Yuu Watase

"Differences between our countries don't really matter. The things we cherish as human beings...are the same all over the world." -Yuu Watase

Yuu Watase was born on March 5th in a town near Osaka, Japan. She was raised there and then decided to move to Tokyo to follow her dream of creating manga. In only a decade after producing Pajama de Ojama (an intrusion in pajamas), she has produced over fifty compiled volumes of short stories and continuing series. She loves sience fiction, fantasy, and comedy.

A lot of Ms.Watase's inspiration for Ayashi no Ceres came from the fact that her house had a lot of folklore books, in fact, there were so many she began to wonder why. She thought the series up when she was a senior in high school, yes this is even before she thought of the infamous Fushigi Yuugi. The first character she thought of of course was Aya. She notes that Aya's character is a lot different than her pervious characters, "She is the new watase heroine who bleaches her hair, is a little valgur and headstrong, and does what she wants and lives how she wants".

When asked if Ayashi no Ceres has a feminist theme to the story she responded as such, "I can't say that it isn't...the story is about men and women. I tried to write about the good and bad in both men and women. It's about men and women and ends up looking at the nature of mankind itself".
